General Policies & Guidelines

Please, take a moment to review our policies and guidelines before making a reservation or purchase. Familiarizing yourself with these details ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience. By understanding our policies, we can better serve you and provide the highest level of hospitality during your stay.

Deposit/Balance Due/Cancellation Policy:

All reservations will be secured with a 50% advance deposit. The remaining balance due will be charged 2 weeks prior to arrival. If your stay is within the next 30 days, at the time of booking, the reservation total will be charged immediately. 


Cancellations greater that 30 days in advance of arrival will receive a refund of your deposit, less a $25.00 processing fee.


Since you are reserving a vacation home, and not a hotel room, trip insurance is encouraged.


Rates do not include the 10% Resort fee or the 13% Taxes.


Guest check-in is anytime after 4:00 pm and departure is anytime before 11:00 am. Quiet hours begin at 10pm and end at 9am, please be respectful for all guests, thank you.


The Cottages on Charleston Harbor is pleased to offer a non-smoking, non-vaping environment in our cottages and the clubhouse. ALL COTTAGES ARE NON SMOKING, NON VAPING. There is a $500.00 fee applied if you have smoked in a cottage. 


Contactless check-in is available for all guests.


It is mandatory to get prior approval if you are bringing a pet or service animal, our Lagoon View Cottage and one Harbor View are approved for pets. Pet fees do apply. If found with a non-approved pet in a cottage a minimum fee of $500 will be charged to your account. 


The maximum occupancy in the cottage is 6 over night guests. Parking availability is two cars per cottage. Please call in advance if additional spaces are required.


The Cottages do not permit parties. All private events of 10 or more guests must be arranged with our events staff or the General Manager. A minimum fee of $1100.00 will posted to your guest account if an unauthorized party is found in your cottage.

Guest Requirements

Guests must pre-register their dog before arrival. These reservations are only available by phone, and our concierge looks forward to ensuring you and your four-legged family member enjoy the best stay possible.  Guests arriving without a pre-registered pet will not be able to stay. Reservations with pets must be booked by phone at 843-849-2300.


Pet Guidelines

  • We have a designated pet-friendly Harbor View and Lagoon Cottage. 
  • Pets must be included in your reservation booking information. 
  • Contact the front desk at 843-849-2300 to book a reservations with a pet, these cannot be booked online.
  • A $125.00 pet fee per three-night stay is required.
  • Advanced notice is required to keep other cottages allergen-free. No exceptions.


Terms & Conditions

  • Pet weight limit is 30 pounds or less.
  • Pets must be fully trained and appropriately restrained by guests.
  • One well-behaved family pet (canine only; some aggressive breeds excepted) per cottage.
  • Pets are not permitted on any furniture or beds.
  • Guests must sign a waiver/pet agreement at check-in, agreeing to uphold the guidelines of The Cottage's pet policy


Pet Policy Guidelines

  • Pets must be leashed in public areas.
  • Pets are not allowed in food & beverage outlets, clubhouse, pool areas (except guide dogs).
  • The pet owner must be present when any staff member is in the cottage.
  • When leaving the pet unattended in the cottage, it must be in a pet carrier. If a pet-sitter is required, notify the concierge in advance (fees are the guest's responsibility).
  • Any disturbances, such as barking, must be curtailed to ensure other guests are not inconvenienced. Persistent barking may result in being asked to check-out.
  • Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pet on the property and in the surrounding neighborhood.
  • All fees are non-refundable.
  • Guests are responsible for all property damage, additional cleaning, or personal injuries resulting from their pet, beyond the non-refundable deposit.
  • Guests agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Cottages, its owners, and its operator from all liability and damage suffered as a result of the guest's pet.
  • The Cottages reserve the right to charge the guest's account commensurate with the cost of such damages.
  • Guests are limited to the pre-assigned pet-friendly cottage. Call before booking online to ensure the cottage is available for the requested dates of stay.
  • Groups are not permitted to have a dog on the property. This policy ensures that our K-9 guest does not access other cottages, helping to keep other cottages allergen-free for guests. We appreciate your assistance in making The Cottages a great place for all our guests.
